Living With Borderline Personality Disorder

Updated: May 10, 2021

Thoughts are racing through your mind, one after the other. None of them are positive; all of them are negative and frightening.

“No one really cares about you.”

“They have a separate agenda.”

“Everyone is out to get you.”

The constant feeling of emptiness devours your soul. It is as if there is a hole in the core of your stomach. The empty feeling is cold and dark. It feels like you’re being sucked deep inside a black hole; the light of happiness fading with each second. The feeling is one that cannot be solved by having a good day or by having multiple people tell you how much they love and care for you.The void cannot be filled. No matter what you do, you are never happy. It feels like you’re on a never-ending roller coaster of emotions. It is frightening with all of the unexpected twists and turns. The intense emotional pain causes your heart to constantly ache. When you feel like you are at your breaking point, #BorderlinePersonalityDisorder swoops right on in to add more weight on your shoulders. If you think that is the worst part, it is far from it in my opinion. The worst part to me is the inability to have stable relationships with people. People who struggle from BPD can have rapid mood swings that may cause conflict with people. One minute, you are on top of the world happy with that individual, and the next minute, you wish they were never a part of your life. It jumbles your brain around. The best example I can give is like you are in the ocean and get pushed under by a wave. The change is so significant; there is no way of telling which way is up and which way is down. You’re so confused and your mind feels so foggy. Borderline personality disorder shouldn’t be taken lightly. According to the National Alliance of Mental Illness (NAMI), at least 1.6% of Americans have been diagnosed with BPD. It is such a serious mental illness and should not be taken lightly. Stay supportive of those of us who struggle with BPD. At the end of the day, we are still human

and deserve to be understood.
